What it does well

The premise commits fully to its own joke, and that commitment is what makes it work. This is a straightforward "underestimated nobody turns out to be busted" power fantasy, but by tying the escalation to something as deliberately unglamorous as a wooden stick, Hongsil and Jipery keep every fight funny even once the stakes get genuinely apocalyptic, landscapes split and guilds get flattened, all with the in-game equivalent of a broom handle. The revenge structure is satisfying in a petty, specific way too: the people getting humbled are the exact players who mocked Ji-u by name earlier, not generic mooks, so the payoff actually lands. Jipery's full-color art sells the absurdity on top of that, panels built to make a farming-tool-tier weapon look genuinely devastating the moment Ji-u swings it. With more than 700,000 subscribers and 200-plus episodes across two seasons, it's clearly found a real audience for that exact mix of comedy and one-upping.

Where it falls short

The formula is the formula. If you've read one "secretly overpowered underdog" LitRPG comedy before, you already know the beats here: mockery, secret power, dramatic reveal, repeat with a new target. It doesn't reinvent that structure, it just executes it with a funnier hook than most. The comedy also leans on blunt, occasionally crude humor rather than anything more clever, which will land better for some readers than others. And at 200-plus episodes and still going weekly with no finale in sight, this is a long-haul commitment rather than something you finish in an afternoon.

Verdict

If the idea of a broke VRMMO noob turning a starter wooden stick into a continent-splitting weapon out of pure spite sounds funny, it is, and the series delivers that joke over and over without it wearing out. It won't surprise you structurally, but it's a well-executed, genuinely popular take on the power-fantasy formula with a gimmick at its center that actually works.
