Overview

Tokiwa agrees to a mixer arranged by his classmate Suou, bringing along his friends Asagi and Hagi to meet Suou's coworkers. What none of them expect is that Suou's coworkers are three women who work a part-time job crossdressing as devastatingly handsome men at a cafe, and they show up to the mixer still in character. What starts as a farce about mistaken identity slowly turns into something like real romance on both sides.

What it does well

The premise is a genuinely fresh spin on a very old rom-com formula. Instead of resolving the 'wait, are they guys or girls?' confusion in one chapter for a quick laugh, the manga commits to the bit, stretching the farce out while still finding room for the actual feelings underneath it to develop. That combination, a silly high-concept setup plus a sincere romantic build, is what makes it work.

The three central pairs also get real chemistry once the story lets them settle into it. It's not just a running gag; you can feel the leads actually start to like each other as people, disguise or not, and that keeps the romance side from getting lost under the comedy. The group dynamic between Tokiwa, Asagi, and Hagi helps too, giving the humor an ensemble to bounce off instead of resting entirely on one lead's reactions.

The art carries a lot of the joke's weight — the disguised leads need to convincingly read as 'dazzlingly handsome men' for the premise to land, and the linework sells both that illusion and the more sincere, unguarded romantic moments once the mask starts to slip.

Where it falls short

The 'will they find out the truth' tension is the engine of the whole premise, and it can only be stretched so far before the beats start repeating themselves — there's only so many near-discoveries and close calls before it feels like the story's stalling rather than building.

Some of the comedy also leans on the same type of misunderstanding more than once, so if the initial hook doesn't fully land for you, later chapters may feel like diminishing returns on the same joke.
