Elric Mervinger was born into a once-great wizarding family and can't cast a single spell -- a rare medical condition has cut him off from magic entirely, and with it, any real hope of restoring his family's fallen name. While searching for a cure, he stumbles onto something stranger: the demon Mephistopheles, trapped by a dragon and looking for a body to possess so he can escape. Mephisto tries to take over Elric. Instead, Elric absorbs him. The two end up bound together, and Elric suddenly has access to power his bloodline never gave him -- if he can survive what comes with carrying a demon inside him.

The premise earns its hook by inverting the expected outcome. Possession stories usually go one direction; Demon Devourer flips it so the talentless heir comes out on top, absorbing rather than being consumed, and that reversal gives Elric's power growth real specificity. He's not unlocking a hidden bloodline or downloading a system's worth of cheat skills -- he's actively devouring demons for what they carry, which keeps the fights logically grounded in a way a lot of power-fantasy manhwa skip past.

The art is the clearest, most consistently praised part of the package, holding up across a long run with dynamic staging and coloring that multiple readers call out even in otherwise critical reviews.
