When the world's rules shift and everyone gains the ability to undergo a game-style job change, Lin Moyu draws the rarest and most stigmatized class in existence: necromancer. What it does well

The choice to make the protagonist a necromancer instead of the usual swordsman or elemental mage pays off mechanically as much as thematically. Instead of just getting numerically stronger the way most power-fantasy leads do, Lin Moyu's growth is tied to building and commanding an undead army that fundamentally can't be worn down the way a normal party can, which gives the story's action a different shape than the genre's default.

The series also benefits from keeping its protagonist's focus narrow. Lin Moyu isn't trying to build a huge network of allies or manage a sprawling ensemble -- he cares about a small handful of people and is otherwise entirely focused on leveling and clearing dungeons, which keeps the plot moving without detouring into unnecessary social subplots.
