What it does well

Taehyeon's backstory is doing real work here. A lot of regression leads are strong from page one and the story just waits for everyone else to catch up; Taehyeon spent decades on the losing end of a system that decided his worth for him, and that resentment gives his second chance an edge that plain wish-fulfillment usually lacks. When he starts winning, it reads less like a power trip and more like overdue payback.

The Gluttony skill is a genuinely clever engine for a long-running weekly webtoon. Because it absorbs whatever ability he beats, the story has a built-in, logical reason to keep expanding what Taehyeon can do without breaking its own rules or resorting to random power-ups — every new fight is also a new toolset.

There's an unexpectedly fun layer to watching a grown man navigate high school again with all his adult baggage intact — the social dynamics land differently when the 'kid' in the scene has decades of hard-won cynicism informing every choice.

Where it falls short

The formula is comfortable, and readers who've been through a few regression/hidden-power webtoons will recognize the shape of most arcs well before they resolve: new threat shows up, Taehyeon has (or absorbs) the answer, threat gets curb-stomped, repeat. It executes that loop well, but it doesn't push far past it.

The supporting cast mostly orbits Taehyeon rather than pursuing their own goals — classmates and rivals exist largely to register how strong he's become. And as a long-running weekly series, it has the pacing dips you'd expect, with some stretches that feel like connective tissue rather than momentum.

Verdict

This isn't reinventing the regression power fantasy, but it's a well-built entry in the genre with a lead whose history gives the wish-fulfillment some actual weight. If you like watching an underdog get his overdue win, Taehyeon's specific grudge makes the ride better than most.
