Vikir Van Baskerville grows up as the family's unwanted bastard, raised anyway to kill because the Baskervilles are a noble house of hereditary assassins. He serves them loyally right up until his own father puts him in the ground. Then he wakes up back at the start, older mind in a younger body, and gets to work making sure it goes differently this time. It's a familiar shape for the genre — reborn underdog, evil family, slow climb to payback — but the assassin framing gives it a sharper identity than most.

What it does well

The fights are the main draw, and they earn it. Vikir doesn't win by suddenly being the strongest person in the room; he wins by using poison, misdirection, terrain, and the kind of dirty tricks an assassin's training would actually produce. The choreography reads clearly panel to panel, hits land with real weight, and fights escalate because the opponents get smarter or nastier, not just bigger. For a weekly webtoon, the art holds up consistently well across a long run, which is rarer than it should be in this space.

The story also improves noticeably once it's willing to slow down. Once the Baskerville household's internal politics get room to breathe, the family stops being a cartoon of evil and turns into something closer to actual court intrigue — siblings and hangers-on with their own angles, not just obstacles for Vikir to clear. That's where the revenge plot starts carrying real weight instead of just running on momentum.

Where it falls short

Getting there takes patience. The first stretch is close to a solo show: Vikir being secretly capable, the family being cruel, and not much else populating the page. It's the classic new-reader graveyard for this genre, and it's a fair complaint — the manhwa is much better once the cast widens than it is in its own opening.

The harem elements are the weakest piece. Several women get positioned as love interests, but there's little chemistry driving it beyond proximity, and Vikir himself rarely reciprocates beyond one running promise. It reads more like genre furniture than an actual relationship thread. Later arcs also settle into a more predictable next-rival, next-tournament rhythm once the founding revenge plot wraps, and the cast can't always cover for how familiar that structure feels.

Verdict

If you can get through a slow, sparse opening, this turns into one of the better-fought revenge webtoons currently running — smart rather than just strong, and backed by art that doesn't dip over a long weekly schedule. Just don't expect the romance side of it to do much work; the appeal here is entirely in how Vikir fights, not who he fights for.
