The story also leans hard on exposition. There's a lot of lore: towers, rankers, hidden powers, competing factions, and it can stack up faster than the plot cashes it in. The opening chapters move fast and hook you, but some of the middle stretches slow down to set up the board, and a few side players blur together because the book is far more interested in its lead than in them.

The World After the Fall isn't trying to reinvent the action genre. It's trying to be a really sharp version of it, and most of the time it succeeds. The art carries real weight, the fights are a pleasure, and the overpowered lead is fun if that's what you signed up for.
