This is a remarkably kind, observant manga about how teenagers actually navigate each other — the small social miscalculations, the unspoken stuff, the way people perform versions of themselves. The cast is refreshingly healthy: conflicts get talked through, kindness is treated as strength, and even the "popular" kids have inner lives. It sidesteps the usual high-school-drama cliches for something gentler and truer.

It's also just lovely to look at. Takamatsu's art is soft and expressive, brilliant at the tiny facial beats that carry this kind of story — a flicker of doubt, a held-back smile. The comedy and the quiet emotional moments both land because the faces sell them.

Where it falls short

It's low-stakes, and that's the point — but it does mean if you need plot momentum, this isn't it. There's no big conflict driving things, just life happening, and some readers will find the gentle, episodic pace too slow or too slight.

The central romance also simmers rather than boils. It's sweet and believable, but it's a slow, understated thing folded into the larger story, so anyone reading mainly for the couple may want it to move faster. And being ongoing, it's a story you're catching up to rather than finishing.
