Spoiler-light · Honestly rated
Every review labels its spoiler level, separates art from writing, and ends with an official way to read.
We use the whole 1–10 scale and judge each title against the best version of what it is trying to be — a comedy on how funny it is, a thriller on its tension — not against some other genre. As a rough guide: 9+ is all-time great, 8 excellent, 7 a solid recommendation with caveats, 5–6 mixed or average. A 7 is a genuine yes, not a knock. The “Community score” in each review is the crowd rating from AniList, MAL, and MangaUpdates, shown next to ours for comparison.
The Russian-crush gimmick could've been a one-note joke; instead it anchors a genuinely charming, funny slow-burn. Standard romcom bones, better-than-average execution.
Give it a few volumes and the scattered gags turn out to be a carefully built puzzle, one of the sharpest slice-of-life comedies going, if you don't mind a book that's all hangout and no plot.
Goofy for volumes on end, then it quietly sneaks the feelings in — SKET Dance is a gag comedy that earned the right to get serious.
One of the best gag manga ever made, and almost nobody in the West has read it — the dirty-fighting lead alone is worth the price of admission.
Starts as a gag about a dating-sim addict, ends as one of the smartest romcoms in manga — the slow start is the price of admission.
It's the rare gag comedy where nearly every character is funny, all built on one perfect setup: a girl confesses her love and gets recruited as a manga assistant instead.
Pure absurd gag comedy with no plot and no brakes — when it's funny it's some of the funniest stuff on the shelf, and it whiffs about as often as it connects.
Anyone who's ever wished they could redo high school will feel this one in their bones — just don't expect the time travel to explain itself or the romance to land cleanly.
Push through the edgelord opening chapters — what's underneath is the tenderest, best-acted romcom of its generation.
Anyone who's wished John Wick would get a day job belongs here — come for the silences as much as the gunfights.
Every 'unconventional teacher saves the class' story since is chasing this one — the perv humor aged badly, the heart didn't.
This is comedy manga at its most unfiltered — dumb, loud, drawn with real craft, and funnier the more committed it gets to its own nonsense.
