Spoiler-light · Honestly rated
Every review labels its spoiler level, separates art from writing, and ends with an official way to read.
We use the whole 1–10 scale and judge each title against the best version of what it is trying to be — a comedy on how funny it is, a thriller on its tension — not against some other genre. As a rough guide: 9+ is all-time great, 8 excellent, 7 a solid recommendation with caveats, 5–6 mixed or average. A 7 is a genuine yes, not a knock. The “Community score” in each review is the crowd rating from AniList, MAL, and MangaUpdates, shown next to ours for comparison.
It's angrier and more pointed than the average campus romance — the surgery isn't a gimmick, it's the thing every character keeps circling back to judge her for, and the webtoon is honest about how ugly that gets.
Take away the bloodshed and you're left with a sincere, sometimes clumsy story about outcasts trying to be loved — the manga just makes you wade through a horror show to get there.
The gunfights are the least memorable part — it's the quiet scenes between handler and cyborg that stay with you, and not in a comfortable way.
Read it for Daikichi and young Rin figuring out life together — that part earns every bit of its reputation. The later stretch is the part people argue about, and you should know it's coming.
There's no other manga quite like it, and there probably shouldn't be. Essential reading, but go in knowing exactly what you're signing up for.
Ito's grotesque, warped faces are the perfect match for a novel about a man performing humanity he's never actually felt.
Hananoi's obsessive devotion is genuinely uncomfortable at times, and the manga knows it, which is exactly why the romance ends up meaning something.
Every character who touches Kasane's lipstick gets exactly what they think they want, and the story makes you watch it ruin them.
The lie-detecting hook is a trojan horse for a much quieter story about who's worth trusting at all.
Quiet, patient, and sincere — this is a romance that trusts small gestures to do the heavy lifting instead of drama.
Few manga commit to a single real-world subject with this much patience and research, and that commitment is exactly what makes Sachiko's years-long fight for her son land as hard as it does.
Two strangers quietly repairing each other in a rain-soaked garden shouldn't work this well in this few pages, and yet it does.
